One Hill Business Helps Another by Enabling Internet Connectivity at Temporary Location.
Washington, DC – Employees at the Frager’s Pop-up Shop, located on the concrete pad at 306 7th St. SE, are able to get online to process payments, access Frager’s accounts and conduct other web-based business thanks to a partnership with DC Access.
The Pop-Up Shop was established in the aftermath of the devastating four-alarm fire that struck Frager’s on June 5. When the temporary Garden Center first opened, Frager’s was only able to accept cash payments.
“As soon as the Garden Center at Eastern Market was up and running, Frager’s called about setting up WiFi to support business operations at the temporary location,” said Martha Huizenga, partner at DC Access.
Frager’s paid for installation of the necessary equipment to enable a wireless connection, and DC Access will provide free service for as long as the pop-up shop is operational.
DC Access is Washington, DC’s only locally owned Internet Service Provider (ISP), serving more than 1,000 commercial and residential customers, the majority of whom are on Capitol Hill. Providing WiFi to a historic neighborhood business like Frager’s was a natural fit.
“Even before the fire was out, Hill neighbors and local businesses were already coming together and looking for ways to help,” said Matt Wade, partner at DC Access. “In addition to supporting the Frager’s Fund at the Capitol Hill Community Foundation, we knew this was something unique and essential that our business could bring to the table that would help Frager’s during this difficult time.”
The Frager’s Pop-Up Shop is open seven days a week, featuring a Garden Center with plants, pottery and garden soil. Key cutting and propane rental are now available at the shop, and Frager’s will continue to add products and services at the temporary location.
