Windows 2000 VPN Setup:

1. Create a New Connection by selecting " Start -> Settings -> Network and Dial-up Connections -> Make New Connection".

2. Click Next to advance to the next step.

3. Select "Connect to a private network through the Internet",then click Next.

4.Select "Do not dial the initial connection." then click Next.

5. Type the IP address or host name of VPN server.

6. Select "For all users", then click Next.

7. Do not enable sharing for this connection. Click Next.

8.Type in the name you want to use for this connection and click Finish to complete the wizard nitialization.

9.Click "Properties" in the pop-up window.

10. Select the Security tab, then click "Settings".

11. In the Data encryption field, select Optional encryption (connect even if no encryption). Select only PAP and CHAP in the "Allowed these protocols" section. Click OK.

12. Select the Networking tab. In the Types of VPN option, select PPTP VPN. Click "Settings".

13. Disable all the three items in the PPP settings window.

14. Type the username and password in the pop-up window, the click Connect.

15. Now you can see the authentication process status.

16. Dial-in connection is established.
